Qatar Museums Authority announces Spring 2014 exhibitions

The Qatar Museums Authority (QMA), led by Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa Bint Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, is pleased to announce a rich Spring 2014 programme of exhibitions across the cultural sites of Qatar.

Starting with the opening of Mona Hatoum: Turbulence at Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art in February, followed by a solo Etel Adnan show at the same museum in March, residents and visitors in Doha will enjoy contemporary visual art as well as a playful account of history through the world of board games at the Museum of Islamic Arts with Kings and Pawns: Board Games from India to Spain, whilst people of all ages can experience and interact with sculpture by Richard Serra at both QMA Gallery and Al Riwaq, taking the QMA cultural programme into the early summer.

This follows the success of the Fall exhibitions that experienced record high visitor figures with over 60,000 visitors attending Damien Hirst’s Relics at Al Riwaq, Hajj: A Journey Through Art at the Museum of Islamic Art, Francesco Vezzoli’s Museum of Crying Women at QMA Gallery and Adel Abdessemed’s exhibition L’âge d’or at Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art.
