Qtel has completed the transaction to buy the Tunisian unit of Egypt's Orascom Telecom, The National has reported. Qtel agreed to purchase Orascom's 50% holding in Orascom Telecom Tunisie, also known as Tunisiana, for $1.2bn in November. Tunisiana was previously 50% owned by Wataniya Telecom, a subsidiary of Qtel based in Kuwait. It will now gain full ownership of the company.
