Queen Alia International Airport registers 29.6 per cent growth in passenger numbers in July

Surge comes in light of the peak of the summer holiday season and increased activity of air traffic

Queen Alia International Airport registered significant growth in passenger and aircraft movements numbers during the month of July 2015 compared with the same month last year.

Airport International Group (AIG), the Jordanian company responsible for the operation of Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA), says that this growth comes in light of the peak of the summer holiday season and the increased activity of air traffic.

Annual air cargo traffic has also continued to achieve positive growth since the beginning of this year.

During the month of July, cargo traffic was at 7,833 tonnes compared with 7,385 tonnes in the same month of 2014, achieving an increase of 6.07 per cent.

On the other hand, the QAIA received 749,314 passengers compared with 578,026 passengers during the same period last year, an increase of 29.6 per cent, while aircraft movements reached 6,926 movements compared with 6,335 during the month of July 2014, registering a rise of 9.3 per cent.
