Refineries, oil industries in Oman register increase in production in 8 months

Production of premium gasoline increased by 86 per cent compared with the same period in 2014

The production of refineries and oil industries in the Sultanate of Oman at the end of August 2015 reached around 56.76 million barrels, showing an increase of 4 per cent compared to the same period in 2014, which was 54.56m barrels.

Statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) indicate that regular gasoline reached approximately 1.619m barrels with a 33.8 per cent drop compared to the figures recorded during the same period until August 2014, which stood at 2.445m barrels, Oman-based Al Balad Newspaper reports.

The production of premium gasoline until August reached roughly 15.410m barrels with an 86 per cent increase compared with the figures recorded during the same period in 2014, which witnessed the production of 14.191m barrels.

It is worth mentioning that in August, the sultanate’s daily average production came in at 988,800 barrels per day (bpd), slightly below the record of 1mn bpd recorded in July.
