Arabian Automobiles, flagship company of AW Rostamani Group and the exclusive distributor of Renault in Dubai and Northern Emirates, and Renault Middle East in partnership with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) discussed electric vehicles and sustainable transport at the Electric Vehicle Conference held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Dubai, UAE.
The event featured a line-up of speakers including top government officials and key industry leaders from around the region. The speakers announced the global trends in electric vehicles transportation, the current challenges owners of these cars face and the way forward to successfully introduce electric vehicles in the Emirates.
The conference concluded with Arabian Automobiles and Renault Middle East felicitating DEWA for their order confirmation of 8 Renault ZOE Electric Vehicles.
The opening remarks to the conference were provided by His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA saying: “Dubai Electricity and Water Authority is committed to its vision to become a sustainable innovative world-class utility as well as support the Smart Dubai initiative of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for Dubai to become the smartest city in the world.”
“The introduction of electric vehicles to DEWA’s fleet supports these strategies and complements one of the three initiatives that DEWA is undertaking to achieve the Smart Dubai initiative by the rollout of 100 Electric Vehicle Charging Stations by the end of this year,” he added.
Michel Ayat, CEO of Arabian automobiles also spoke about the event saying: “We are fully committed and aligned to the Dubai Smart City Initiative for promoting sustainable transportation & transforming Dubai into one of the smartest cities in the world. We recognize the fact that electric vehicles represent the next phase of automotive technology and with exciting electric vehicles present in our line-up we aim to support Dubai in achieving the highest standards of energy efficiency.”
Also commenting on the conference, Hakim Boutehra, Managing Director of Renault Middle East said, “Globally, Renault has taken a pioneering stance on providing sustainable mobility solutions for everyone. There is an increasing demand for vehicles that run on renewable energy and it is no surprise that global sales of Electric vehicles have continued to increase. Additional remarks were made by Thomas Orsini, Electric Vehicles Business Development Director, Renault – France, who talked about the Renault Zero Emission Program and the key trends taking place in the Global Electric Vehicle industry.
Patrick Widloecher, Special advisor to the CEO on sustainable development of the French Post, also shared the experience of the French Post in inducting the largest batch of Electric Vehicles worldwide in their fleet.
