Revenues through Port of Beirut exceed $115 million in six months

Number of containers declined by 20.8 per cent while number of ships declined by 14.9 per cent

Port of Beirut’s overall revenues were $115 million in the first six months of 2015, up by 11.67 per cent despite the slowdown in the commercial trading during the past period.

The quantities of goods in Port of Beirut reached 3,924 tonnes in the covered period, registering a decline of 7.7 per cent, after it posted an increase of 3.9 per cent during the same period in 2014, reports UAE-based Aliqtisadi.

The number of containers showed a decline of 20.8 per cent to 180,288 containers in the first six months of 2015.

The first half of this year witnessed a decline of 14.9 per cent in the number of ships, compared with an increase of 2.3 per cent on an annual basis during the same period of 2014: there were only 852 ships docked at the port.

It is noteworthy that the Port of Beirut’s revenues amounted to $105.3 million during the same period in 2014.
