The mobile connected devices market in the GCC grew by 16.7 per cent YoY in the first quarter of this year, reveals a report in this sector.
The report, issued by the global consulting services firm International Data Corporation (IDC), says that the mobile connected devices market registered record shipments of more than 8.7 million units, reports Egypt-based Mubasher.
The Saudi market accounted for more than 50 per cent of Gulf mobile connected devices shipments, followed by the UAE with 26 per cent.
The report attributes the domination of the kingdom over the market to its demographic size and the rapid rate at which IT adoption is occurring across the kingdom.
The decline in average selling boosted the growth of the market, which includes shipments of smart phones, tablets and computer equipment to the kingdom and the rest of the other Gulf states.
This, in turn, led to an increase in the rate usage across the kingdom, in light of the increasing efforts of new companies to enter the regional markets and acquiring part of their profits.
