Specialists in the tourism sector say that Saudi Arabia topped the list of exporting markets for tourists to Dubai in 2014.
The number of visitor arrivals from the kingdom to Dubai recorded a significant increase to reach 1.5 million Saudi visitors, up by 19 per cent compared with 2013, reports Al Riyadh Newspaper.
According to figures from Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), Saudi visitors accounted for 12.27 per cent of the total number of tourists to Dubai in 2013.
For his part, a specialist in the tourism sector in Dubai says that this percentage will continue to rise during the current year and subsequent years, given the growing position of Dubai on the regional tourism map.
Tourism specialist Fadeel Wehbe expects the number of tourists as well as the hotel occupancy rates in Dubai to increase during the current season 2015-2016 by between seven and nine per cent compared with last year’s season as a result of the expected demand for continuous conferences, exhibitions, scheduled events and touristic festivals in the coming short period of time.
