Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) announced its participation in Sharjah International Book Fair 2015, which begins today.
The exhibition, which will run until November 14, is the largest regional literary celebration involving more than 1,500 publishers from 64 countries, and will be attended by more than a million visitors from around the world.
During its participation in the event, SCTDA will launch the book, ‘Sharjah University City’, which sheds light on the Sharjah University City, its colleges and its cultural and scientific facilities that have contributed to making the institution a pioneering learning centre in the region and one of the leading destinations for those seeking excellence in various fields of science.
SCTDA will also distribute the ‘Mouj’ magazine to children visiting the fair, offering them an opportunity to meet and take photos with the ‘Mouj’ character. Visitors to the SCTDA stand at the book fair will be offered a personal invite to the Sharjah Water Festival this year.
His Excellency Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of SCTDA, stressed the importance of participating in Sharjah International Book Fair, describing it as the largest cultural exhibition of its kind in the region. “The book fair offers a major platform for SCTDA to demonstrate the tourism and cultural capabilities of the emirate, including popular festivals in the coming period such as Sharjah Water Festival, UIM F1 Powerboat World Championship, and Sharjah Light Festival,” H.E. Al Midfa said.
“SCTDA is keen to provide the best services to participants and visitors of Sharjah International Book Fair. The Authority has therefore provided information centres in a number of hotels, offering details about the most important tourism destinations and landmarks in the emirate,” H.E. Al Midfa stated.
“SCTDA is constantly involved in improving the tourism and hospitality infrastructure in the Sharjah. As part of these efforts, every year, before the opening of the Sharjah International Book Fair, SCTDA coordinates with the hotels in the emirate and conducts inspection visits to ensure the best services and facilities for delegations, participants and visitors to the book fair,” H.E. Al Midfa added.
