SRO investigation finds train staff at fault for derailment

The Saudi Railways Organization (SRO) has said the conductor, his assistant and other SRO employees in the central control room in Dammam have been found responsible for the derailment of a Riyadh-bound train last June 27, Saudi Gazette has reported. The train, which was carrying 332 passengers, derailed 70km east of Riyadh, injuring some 35 people. The train was traveling at a speed of 119km per hour around a detour, causing the engine and three carriages to derail. The speed limit at the detour was 30km an hour.
