TAG, Google, Intel to create luxury Android Smartwatch

TAG is the first traditional Swiss watch brand to collaborate with Google

Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer announced collaborating with tech giants Google and Intel from Silicon Valley to introduce the first “luxury Android Smartwatch.”

The announcement was made by Jean-Claude Biver, president of LVMH’s watches division, at Switzerland’s top watches exhibition, Baselworld, on Thursday.

Luxury group LVMH owns TAG Heuer, along with other top Swiss watchmakers such as Hublot and Zenith.

“After 40 years of working in the industry I am making the biggest announcement ever. I look a little older but it was worth the wait,” Biver said.

The date of the new Android Smartwatch was not revealed at the press conference, but Biver hinted that it would be towards the end of the year.

TAG is the first traditional Swiss watch brand to collaborate with Google, and the new Smartwatch is expected to directly compete with the Apple Watch, launched earlier this month.
