10th international Conference on Cognitive Radio Oriented Wireless Networks .

Texas A&M University at Qatar and Hamad bin Khalifa University host the10th international Conference on Cognitive Radio Oriented Wireless Networks (Crowncom 2015), 21-23 April, at the Hilton Doha Hotel.

The event, co-sponsored by Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) and European Alliance for Innovation (EAI), brings together researchers in both academia and industry to present their new solutions and cutting-edge research in cognitive radios.

Dr. Mark H. Weichold, Texas A&M at Qatar dean and CEO, said, “I sincerely thank Crowncom 2015 co-sponsors – QNRF and EAI and QF for their support to continue this important conversation and to explore ways to share knowledge, fill gaps and forecast trends and advances. I also thank the technical chairs, advisory board, steering committee and many others who have worked tirelessly to create this enriching three-day program that features papers, keynotes, expert research and workshops. Each of these elements is incredibly timely and covers areas such as, of course, dynamic spectrum and cognitive radio’s capability to access the licensed spectrum.”

Hosted in an Arabic country for the first time, Crowncom events are endorsed by the EAI, a leading community-based organization devoted to the advancement of innovation in the field of wireless communications and ICT.

Professor ImrichChlamtac, president, European Alliance for Innovation and president, CreateNet, said, “As the largest European organization bringing together research and innovation, we, at EAI, are so proud to host Crowncom 2015 this year in Qatar the forefront country for research in the Middle East and with Texas A&M University at Qatar – the pioneering engineering school in Qatar.

“With the participation of leading experts, we are looking forward to the conferences as a place for building ties between local and European research and innovation in this exciting field of research and cutting edge technology.”

Dr. Abdul Sattar Al-Taie Said “With its inclusion of key industry and academic players, Crowncom 2015 provides a great platform for collaboration and networking, which is essential to nurturing Qatar’s research environment through knowledge and technological transfer.

Indeed, Crowncom 2015 is a timely forum as it aims to address the growing challenges in wireless communication, where the penetration of mobile broadband services is expected to soar in the coming years.”

Crowncom 2015 featuresa vibrant technical program and six keynote speeches from distinguished speakers from academia and industry to discuss the regulatory and policy issues for the next generation of cognitive radio networks. The conference also includes a special workshop on cognitive radio for 5G networks featuring invited papers from expert researchers.

Dr. Khalid Qaraqe, professor of electrical and computer engineering program, said, “We believe that Crowncom 2015 will advocate the research community, practitioners, standardization bodies and developers, collaborate on their research efforts and development initiatives toward the evolution of emerging highly dynamic spectrum access frameworks.

“We thank our generous co-sponsors QNRF, HBKU and Texas A&M University at Qatar for their instrumental support in organizing this conference and inviting expert researchers from around the world.”
