Tour operators take in the sights and sounds of Millennium Resort Mussanah during away day

Millennium Resort Mussanah recently welcomed 42 delegates from 23 tour and travel operators for an opportunity to experience the resort facilities first hand. The group spent the weekend taking part in water sports operated by Oman Sail, a Dhow cruise and mini golf tournament, and enjoyed a wide range of activities the resort offers as Millennium Resort Mussanah continues to build strong ties with the travel industry and develop new possibilities for growth in Oman’s tourism sector.

Syed Aftab, Sales Manager at the Millennium Resort Mussanah, said, “Whether our guests are holiday makers here to enjoy the sun and relax by one of our four swimming pools, or families here to use our world class leisure attractions or organisations hosting a corporate event, we are able to offer a unique and memorable experience and cater to a variety of needs. We want to build relationships with all major tour operators in Oman and offer them a chance to get a genuine feel for the resort by experiencing all that Millennium Resort Mussanah has to offer. I am delighted that so many local tour operators took this opportunity to share a weekend with us at the resort.”

Speaking during the visit, Sanjay Bhattacharya, Arabica Orient Tours, said, “The best way for us as operators to recommend resorts to customers is to share our personal experiences. During this weekend we were very impressed with the facilities at Millennium Resort Mussanah. Visitors are spoiled for choice as the leisure activities provide options for an adventure holiday or a relaxing break. The dining options also support a healthy lifestyle and the beautiful surroundings complement what is really a spectacular resort.”

The new Zayna Spa is due to open at the end of November and will complement a wide range of healthy eating on-site dining options and leisure facilities at the resort by offering holistic, relaxation, medical, fitness and wellness treatments to guide individuals towards developing a healthy lifestyle. The resort also offers guests the chance to take part in tennis, beach football or volleyball, relax at any of the four swimming pools, which include a dedicated ladies only private pool, the first of its kind for a hotel in Oman, or test their putting skills on the resort’s 18-hole mini golf course.

Millennium Resort Mussanah is forging a reputation as one of the leading lifestyle destinations in Oman by combining world class leisure facilities with an expanding range of dining, wellness and adventure activities on-site in line with government plans to increase tourism in areas outside of Muscat.

Tourism has been defined in His Majesty’s Vision 2020 as a key driver for economic growth in the Sultanate. The strategy plans to raise the contribution the industry makes to the national economy to 3%, a target that the hospitality industry has been working towards in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism.

Maurice De Rooij, General Manager of the Millennium Resort Mussanah, added, “As tourism in Oman increases and the airport expansion brings more and more visitors to the country each year, we must cater to the needs to every type of visitor. By strengthening relations with local and regional partners, we have been successful in showcasing the resort to a wider audience and encouraging new visitors to Mussanah. Increased footfall in the area has a positive impact on Al Batinah South Governorate, generating additional economic growth for the city in line with His Majesty’s Vision 2020 plans to expand the country’s private sector.”

Millennium Resort Mussanah, part of the Millennium & Copthorne Plc Group, features a four star hotel with 234 rooms in a range of options to suit every need, each offering views of the impressive Hajar Mountains, Marina operated by Oman Sail or Gulf of Oman. With four restaurants, guests can choose from a range of local and international à la carte delicacies, buffet options and both formal and casual dining options, all with private terraces facing the sea.
