Travelport appoints Mervat Alfy as new Country Manager for Egypt

Mervat accumulated over 20 years’ successful experience in the field, starting as a Sales Agent.

Travelport, a leading Travel Commerce Platform is pleased to announce the appointment of Mervat Alfy as its new Country Manager for Egypt.

Mervat comes to Travelport with a wealth of regional experience having held the position of Egypt Country Manager for British Airways(BA) for the past seven years. In her BA career she accumulated over 20 years’ successful experience in the field, starting as a Sales Agent.

Mervat also introduced ba.com payments online as well as e-tickets to Egypt, demonstrating an affinity for technology and making her a great choice for Travelport.

Mervat will be based in Cairo and will sit on Travelport’s Africa, Middle East and South Asia management team, reporting directly to Rabih Saab, Travelport’s President & Managing Director for the region.

Mervat will replace Tarek Bassiouny, who has led Travelport operations in Egypt since its initiation in the country in 2009.
