UAE initials open sky deal with Portugal

The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has initialled an open Air Services Agreement and has signed a Record of Discussion with Portugal. The agreement replaces an old deal initialled on May 2, 2005 in Lisbon, and includes new articles on safety, aviation security, designation and tariffs clauses which meet European Union requirements. The new agreement allows unrestricted frequencies, capacity and types of aircraft, whether owned or leased, to be operated by the designated airlines of each country in any type of service (passenger or cargo).
