UAE’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has issued its fifth annual sector review titled ‘UAE Telecommunications Sector Developments & Indicators, 2010 – 2013’, which summaries the state of the fixed, mobile and data telecommunications markets in the UAE in terms of subscribers, penetration rates, revenues, and usage during 2010 – 2013. The report also provides detail on the rankings of the UAE in a range of ICT studies, Trade Arabia reported. The number of active mobile subscriptions in the UAE reached more than 16 million by the end of 2013 with a penetration rate of 192.9 %, representing one of the highest mobile penetration rates in the world, the report said. “This report highlights the continued development of the telecommunications sector of UAE. Evidently from the statistics contained within it, the sector continues to experience significant growth with the period from 2010to 2013 building on the positive sector development seen in 2008 to 2011,” said Mohammed Al Ghanim, director general of TRA.
