Uber will offer discounted rides to people seeking COVID-19 vaccination in the UAE

Uber announced this week that it will offer discounted rides to people looking to receive COVID-19 vaccination in the UAE, in an effort to contain the spread of the virus.

Riders will be able to avail 25% off 2 Uber rides, up to AED 20 each to and from public vaccination centers across the UAE The rides will commence from 25th of January until 8th of February for people of all ages and nationalities People across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah will easily be able to book the trips to and from 43 centers using the Uber app

UPDATE 26/1/2021: Hala (Dubai Taxi) will now offer residents across the Emirate a free ride home from select vaccination centers from today (26 January 2021) as part of its drive to support the city and those who wish to participate in the vaccination program. 

Uber is continuing to push its corporate social responsibility (CSR) campaign, Move What Matters, motivated by the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Now, in its latest step, the company has announced it will offer discounted rides to people looking to receive COVID-19 vaccination in the UAE, in an effort to contain the spread of the virus. 

Riders will be able to avail 25% off 2 Uber rides, up to AED 20 each to and from public vaccination centers across the UAE. The rides will commence from 25th of January until 8th of February for people of all ages and nationalities. 

People across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah will easily be able to book the trips to and from 43 centers using the Uber app. This includes a number of DHA centers in Dubai, the SEHA Vaccination Centre and other select centers in Abu Dhabi, and MOHAP authorized centers in Sharjah. 

According to Al Arabiya, UAE authorities announced last week that more than two million doses of coronavirus vaccine had been administered in the country, the equivalent of 20.88% of the population. The Gulf nation wants to vaccinate half of its population by the end of March.

How to claim a discounted ride when travelling to vaccinate:

  • Tap the menu in the top left of the Uber app and select ‘Wallet’.
  • Select ‘Add Promo Code’ at the bottom.
  • Add the promo code SI2021UAE and get 25% off 2 Uber rides to/from vaccination centers up to 20AED each, valid until February 8th, 2021.
  • Navigate to the rides home screen and enter the pick-up/drop-off location for yourself or the person you are booking for. Remember, the trip must start or end at the vaccination centers listed below.
  • Confirm your trip.

Uber assumes a supportive role during these difficult medical and financial times

The Move What Matters campaign has been supporting public authorities and cities as they work to fight the spread of pandemic.

The spread of COVID-19 has affected many lives and Uber has been working on several initiatives to curb its spread including the launch of Uber Medics to provide healthcare workers with discounted trips to and from their workplace, advanced safety measures for both riders and drivers, financial assistance for drivers diagnosed with COVID-19 as well as in-app reminders for riders and drivers to follow advice from public health authorities.
