Apple began the sales of the new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus models in the UAE from October 10.
Beginning October 2, telecommunications firm Etisalat and du offered a pre-order facility for customers in the country.
e-commerce retailer alshop.com had earlier said on their website that the iPhone 6S will be in stock from 26 September, a day after it was launched in 12 countries including the US and UK.
“Unofficially, you should see landing a day after the global launch,” Omar Kassim, chief executive officer of online shopping portal JadoPado, told Kippreport, sister publication of AMEinfo. “But officially by mid-October,” he added.
Etisalat is selling iPhone 6s for a price of AED2,599 for the 16GB model, AED2,999 for the 64GB model and AED3,399 for the 128GB model. The iPhone 6s Plus, meanwhile, will be available at a retail price of AED2,999 for the 16GB model, AED3,399 for the 64GB model and AED3,799 for the 128GB model.
Apple said it has sold more than 13 million new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus models just three days after the phones were launched on 25 September .
“Sales for iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus have been phenomenal, blowing past any previous first weekend sales results in Apple’s history,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.
The tech giant launched the models in more than 40 countries on October 9, including Italy, Mexico, Russia, Spain and Taiwan. Customers in Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia have also seen the new arrivals on the next day.
Available from 16GB to 128GB in grey, silver, gold or rose gold, the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus both boast the new iOS 9 operating system, retina HD display with 3D Touch, an A9 chip with 64-bit architecture and an embedded M9 motion coprocessor. The models also feature a 12-megapixel iSight camera with 1.22µ pixels, 4K video recording (3840 by 2160) at 30 fps and a front HD camera for 5-megapixel photos.
Weighing in at 143 grams, the iPhone 6S has a 4.7-inch LED-backlit widescreen and can last for up to ten hours of Internet use on 3G, ten hours on 4G LTE and 11 hours on Wi-Fi. It can handle up to 14 hours of talk-time on 3G.
The iPhone 6S Plus, weighing 192 grams, sports a 5.5-inch LED-backlit widescreen and can last for up to 12 hours of Internet use on 3G, 12 hours on 4G LTE and 12 hours on Wi-Fi. It can handle up to 24 hours of talk-time on 3G.
