Winter tourism in Oman boosts hotel bookings to 98 per cent

Growing interest from the European Union and American countries to visit the Sultanate

Tourist traffic recorded a growth in hotel bookings in Oman during November and December to reach 98 per cent with expectations to reach 100 per cent in the near future.

Industry experts expect to witness a rise in the numbers of tourists visiting the Sultanate with the resultant increase in hotel occupancy rates from September 2015 until May 2016 to exceed 100 per cent, especially for four- and five-star hotels.

Officials in the hospitality sector point out that the bookings during the past two months have seen a growth in occupancy rates ranged between 75 and 90 per cent, and 98 per cent in some hotels, reports Argaam.

They emphasised that institutions and hotels geared up early to receive tourists during the current season, in light of the growing interest to visit the Sultanate, particularly from the European Union and American countries, which account for the largest proportion of the foreign tourists.
