Work on Haramain Railway progressing on schedule

Mohammed Al-Suwaiket, president of the Saudi Railway Organisation (SRO) has said work on the Haramain Railway project that links the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah is progressing as planned, Arab News has reported. "We are monitoring the works of contractors in different locations by conducting field inspections and checking on their reports," Al-Suwaiket said. The new 450km line is expected to carry around 160,000 people a day and even more during the Haj pilgrimage. They will be transported on a fleet of 35 new high-speed trains.
