Zain, the leading telecommunications company in Kuwait, announced its main sponsorship of the mobile application ‘Urban Moon Kuwait Guide’, which provides smartphone users with extensive information about several entities and services available in the country.
The ‘Urban Moon Kuwait Guide’ application was developed by young Kuwaitis and is witnessing strong demand from smartphone users. On its part, Zain is keen to support the exploration of smartphone application development and programming, which is currently witnessing high levels of interest and demand around the world.
‘Urban Moon Kuwait Guide’ provides users with information about the best dining places, shops, and service providers, in addition to other location-based data. The application has been designed in a way to offer simplicity through the various tabs and features available, and users are able to read ratings and reviews from actual people to help them decide where to go and what to choose.
Zain is a leader in nurturing young talent in Kuwait, as well as advancing the skills of young people in the areas of programming and information technology. Early this year, Zain announced its strategic partnership of the second edition of the Arab Mobile App Challenge (AMAC); the largest mobile application development competition in the region. Zain also introduced a series of initiatives last year to encourage skills-building in the ICT space, one of which was the ‘Zain Hackathon’ challenge that involved designing a fully functional mobile app that used Direct Operator Billing APIs.
Zain has also encouraged talented young people through its very own ‘Zain Great Idea’ initiative, held in collaboration with IE Business School in Madrid, and Brilliant Lab. In 2012, Zain supported Microsoft’s Imagine Cup and called upon students in Kuwait and from across the Gulf to participate in the competition, which challenged them to use their creative and technical abilities to create mobile applications.
