Zebra Technologies to focus on Middle East impact of ‘Internet of Things’ at Gitex

Zebra Technologies presents the latest tracking, Visibility Solutions to Build Enterprise Asset Intelligence at Gitex 2015

Zebra Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ: ZBRA), a global leader in solutions and services that provide real-time visibility into organizations’ assets, people and transactions, announces its participation at Gitex 2015 October 1722 (Dubai World Trade Centre, Hall 4, , stand C4-5).

Zebra will exhibit its latest solutions for increased visibility, transparency and productivity with a focus on mobility, cloud and the Internet Of Things (IoT).

Zebra Technologies’ portfolio for retail, healthcare, manufacturing and transportation and logistics (T&L) includes state-of-the-art, asset-tracking solutions including card and barcode printers, mobile computing, data capture and wireless LAN to complement RFID, real-time locating systems and Zatar, Zebra’s cloud-based IoT platform.

In 2015, Zebra released the results of a study that revealed the vast majority of business decision makers understand and are in the process of deploying IoT as part of their business strategy.

Forrester Consulting conducted the study in Nov. 2014 on behalf of Zebra Technologies, and surveyed IT and business decision makers in nearly 600 global firms in the retail, consumer products, manufacturing, transportation, government, oil/gas, healthcare, and hospitality industries.

IoT is impacting key vertical industries in the Middle East (manufacturing, healthcare, retail, T&L).

Retail: IoT drives a unique shopping experience by feeding real-time information into a data system for inventory analysis, stock management and replenishment, driving greater efficiencies and more sales. Nearly 96 percent of retail decision makers are ready to make changes required to adopt IoT. 56 percent of respondents listed integration challenges as the top barrier to IoT implementations, while 47 percent mentioned security and privacy as a chief concern.

Healthcare: With advanced tracking and asset management capabilities, IoT helps provide patients and caregivers with a mistake free and safe treatment environment.

Manufacturing: A connected manufacturing environment can capture, track and trace materials, verify parts and production schedules, and improve inventory controls, boosting productivity and ensuring materials get where they need to go. Survey results show that 97 percent of manufacturers consider IoT to be one of the most impactful technological initiatives in their industry.

T&L: The smart T&L environment enables efficient, accurate freight and cargo tracking using real-time data to optimize routing and ensuring delivery of all assets to its final destination. 96 percent of surveyed transportation and logistics (T&L) companies agree that IOT is the most strategic technological initiative their organization will undertake this decade. The T&L sector is a vital part of the GCC’s non oil economy; the UAE is now widely regarded as the leading multi-modal sea-air transport hub in the world; and Dubai handles on average 70 percent of the air cargo that passes through the Middle East annually.
