The Qatari Business Women Association in collaboration with Interactive Business Network (IBN) wrapped up the fifth annual Qatar International Businesswomen Forum that was held under the patronage of HH Sheikha Jawaher Bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani, wife of HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, The Emir of Qatar on 16 and 17 December 2014 at the St. Regis Hotel Doha, Qatar.
Sessions have highlighted Qatar’s ambitious national journey of human development and sustainable economic diversification built on human capital. Also have touched upon the plan’s Economic Development and Responsible Growth objectives, as well as that on Women Empowerment and their increasing role in the economic, political and cultural development of the country.
The third session which addressed “Businesswomen and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)” was moderated by Dr. Aisha Al Mannai, in which two topics were highlighted; the growing importance of corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in business strategy and mission statements, and comparing the Arab women business leaders in CSR initiative with developed economics.
Moreover, the fourth session was about social responsibility strategies for reducing poverty, while the social innovation in principle and practice was discussed in the fifth session according to the meaning, scope and applications of social innovation.
The forum was incredibly successful, and has rapidly gained a unique status as a major annual event in Qatar and the region whether in terms of the size and level of attendance, or the relevance and rich nature of its topics and debates, or the qualities and expertise of its panelists and speakers, or its impeccable organization.
Key recommendations have come from the event as follows:
•To direct international companies to support women in investment.
•To include the innovation and entrepreneurship in the education curriculum of the region.
•To encourage the aspirant women to take advantage of the institutions supporting new businesses and SMEs, which provide financial & consultancy solutions.
•To create cooperative partnership with the civil society to increase the social responsibility.
•To determine the objectives for the social responsibility to achieve sustainability.
•To build up a social services funds.
With a stellar cast of women achievers and businessmen from across the world among the distinguished line-up of speakers at the event, this year’s Forum was another huge success, a major media event, and a great opportunity for businesswomen in the Gulf and beyond.
