Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) organized its first Process Safety Conference, which kicked off at the Jumeirah Etihad Towers, Abu Dhabi.
The two-day event which is hosted by Abu Dhabi Gas Liquefaction Co. (ADGAS) comes in line with the directives of ADNOC for developing operational excellence systems among ADNOC Group of Companies. The conference also provided an excellent opportunity for sharing best practices on the industrial process safety among the group companies.
The conference was attended by scores of top officials and experts in process safety from ADNOC Group of Companies (including ADMA-OPCO, ADCO, GASCO? ZADCO and Borouge), as well as the participation of the Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS), (a technology alliance of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers). The event featured more than 15 presentations and extensive discussions related to process safety in the oil and gas industry.
In his welcoming note, Mr. Fahim kazim, ADGAS CEO, said: “Process safety is one of the key issues of concern in the global oil and gas industry. We, in ADNOC Group of Companies fully recognize the importance of addressing these key issues through knowledge transfer and sharing best practices with our industry peers, to ensure the carrying out our projects and daily tasks in the industrial sites with the minimum level of risk and accidents”.
Dr. Ahmed Abbas, ADGAS Senior Vice President (Technical) said: “In light of the increasing trend worldwide to enhance process safety management in the oil and gas industry, we should keep abreast with the latest developments and embrace cutting-edge technology in this field in order to ensure employees’ safety and assets integrity”.
On his part, Mr. Scott Berger, Executive Director of the CCPS said: “There are many potential risks in the industrial sites and we must work hard to develop effective systems that will assist personnel to identify and deal with these hazards in a professional manner to prevent or mitigate these risks. This conference was an ideal platform for exchanging expertise and best practices across ADNOC group of Companies”.
