Tandeef, the waste collection division of Bee’ah, the Middle East’s leading and award-winning fully integrated environment and waste management company, in collaboration with Hamriyah Municipality, organised a clean-up campaign at the Al Hamriya five kilometre beach.
The campaign was led by HE Mubarak Rashid Al Shamsi, Director General of Hamriyah Municipality and a number of the Municipality’s management members, Mr Marwan Al Shamsi, Director of Collection and Cleansing Business at Bee’ah, Mr Hamad Al Tunaiji, Senior Director of Tandeef, and a number of the company’s employees.
The campaign comes within the framework of the mutual cooperation between Bee’ah and Sharjah Municipalities and supports the development of a common vision pertaining to compliance with the highest international standards in terms of cleaning, recycling, and environment protection practices to meet the satisfaction of Sharjah’s residents.
Speaking on the occasion, HE Mubarak Al Shamsi, Director General of Hamriyah Municipality, said: “We are delighted with the support of Bee’ah and their contribution to cleaning and protecting the city beach. This campaign reflects their commitment to the protection of our environment and raising awareness of environmental issues through the various campaigns and initiatives they launch. Preserving the environment is the shared responsibility of all members of the community. Therefore, we confirm our willingness to provide the necessary support to any initiative that would keep our environment clean.”

A number of the city’s residents participated in the campaign and expressed their happiness to take part in this activity, which aimed to keep the beach beautiful. They thanked Bee’ah for encouraging the best sustainability practices in the UAE at large, and for their outstanding efforts to strengthen the Emirate’s position in the top cities in terms of best environmental practices locally and regionally. The company aims to make Sharjah the undisputed environmental capital of the Middle East in accordance with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, which aims to ensure an environmentally sustainable future for the coming generations by improving environmental performance.
Mr Marwan Al Shamsi, Director of Waste Collection at Bee’ah, said: “We are committed to contribute to spreading public awareness of the importance of preserving the environment and to promoting community awareness of the dangers of pollution to the environment, as part of an ambitious strategy that target as many people as possible and ensure that they benefit from the experience of the company and its team in promoting responsible environmental behaviour. We aim, as well, to promote the principles of sustainability in the community in general, in compliance with the country’s environmental objectives.”
Bee’ah adopts several initiatives that aim to raise awareness of environmental issues, such as myBee’ah which aims to promote awareness and engage the community through interactive engagements, events, activities and dialogues as well as the Bee’ah School of Environment which introduces students to the environmental principle of the 3Rs (Reduce, Re-Use, Recycle). Moreover, the Sharjah Environmental Awareness Award is a competition designed to help teachers coach pupils on environmental responsibility using the Bee’ah School of Environment’s programmes and activities, which aim to educate about all aspects of environment, including preserving natural resources, reducing waste disposal, conserving water, and ensuring sustainability.
