Beirut Stock Exchange VP calls for bourse privatisation

Ghaleb Mahmasani, vice president of the Beirut bourse has said Beirut Stock Exchange (BSE) should be privatised to attract more investors and increase the platform’s activity, The Daily Star has reported. “BSE privatisation will bring in more investors if it is done properly and it will help them in buying and selling their shares in a faster way as it is the case in other countries,” Mahmasani told the daily. This comes two weeks after central bank governor, Riad Salameh, urged the Lebanese government to privatise the BSE to improve its performance and boost private sector financing.
