Consumer prices in Lebanon climb 4.7%

According to data by Lebanon's Consultation and Research Institute, inflationary pressure drove the country's Consumer Price Index up 4.7% during the first five months of 2012, The Daily Star has reported. The increase in the CPI during the first five months of 2012 was mostly due to a 9.3% year-to-date rise in prices of food and beverages. The CPI variation reached 6% year-on-year, compared with May of 2011.
