Dr. Ibrahim Janahi appointed Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medical College – Qatar

Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Dr. Ibrahim Janahi has been appointed to the position of Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medical College – Qatar (WCMC-Q). Dr. Ibrahim, who becomes the first Qatari to have a full professorial rank at WCMC-Q, will combine this new position with his current roles at HMC.

As Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at WCMC-Q, Dr. Ibrahim will play a leading role in the teaching and research programs at the college, including supervising new research projects and working to develop research partnerships locally and internationally.

Hanan Al Kuwari, PhD, Managing Director of HMC highlighted the significance of the appointment: “I wholeheartedly congratulate Dr. Ibrahim on his new role. I’m sure that Dr. Ibrahim’s vast experience and knowledge in pediatrics and research will be of great benefit to the students at Weill Cornell. As the first Qatari to be appointed in this position, Dr. Ibrahim is leading the way and setting an example for young up-and-coming Qatari clinicians.”

Dr. Ibrahim has been working at HMC since 1992, and holds a number of senior positions within HMC and other organizations. In addition to his role as Executive Director of HMC’s Medical Research Center, he is the Deputy Chair of Pediatrics at HMC and the Head of Pediatric Pulmonology for HMC and Sidra Medical and Research Center.

Dr. Ibrahim is American Board Certified in Pediatric Pulmonology and Pediatrics and is a fellow at the United Kingdom’s Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health.

Expressing his delight at the new role, Dr. Ibrahim commented: “I’m honored to have been appointed as Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medical College – Qatar. I look forward to helping advance teaching and research programs at Weill Cornell and ensuring the college continues to provide the finest education possible for medical students, as well as conducting cutting edge research.”
