Apple posts several Dubai job vacancies for February 2015 start.
Following a visit to the UAE by Apple’s CEO Tim Cook earlier this year, several Dubai vacancies – including inventory specialist, business manager, Apple genius and business specialist – have fuelled speculation that the California-based tech giant is about to enter the Emirate, in what would be its first outlet in the Mena region.
According to a YouGov survey, Samsung is the top company in the UAE concerning brand perception, with Apple trailing in 5th place. The poll, which was published last week showed that the Korean mobile giant overtook Google, who is in second place, followed by Emirates airline and retailer Carrefour. By opening an outlet in Dubai, Apple will attempt to regain some ground over its competitor, in a region where smartphone penetration is amongst the highest in the world.
This news will further buoy Apple fans who last week heard that the global launch of the iPhone 6 is mooted for September 9. The UAE is expected to have to wait a further 10 days to get its hands on the offering, nonetheless retailers have assured fans that it will arrive in time for the highly-anticipated Gitex Shopper conference.
