Egypt expects more Gulf support

The governor of Egypt's central bank, Hisham Ramez has said the country has received $7bn out of the $12bn in aid pledged by Gulf countries, with further support expected from the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, Reuters has reported. Of the $7bn now received, $3bn was from the UAE, with a further $2bn each from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, Ramez told reporters on the sidelines of a meeting of Arab central bankers in Abu Dhabi, adding that he expected Gulf states to provide more aid and, more importantly, that Egypt's economy and financial markets would stabilise. "Yes, I see more support from them," he said, referring to the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
