Lebanon’s trade deficit drops 7%

According to statistics released by Lebanon’s customs department, the country’s trade deficit fell to $15.617bn in the first 11 months of this year from $16.797bn in the same period of last year, The Daily Star has reported. The decline was attributed to a drop in overall imports, an indication that many merchants are reluctant to import goods in view of the political uncertainty and deep economic slowdown. Total exports up to November this year also narrowed to $3.815bn from $4.483bn in the same period of last year, the figures showed.
