Oman July inflation accelerates to 27-month high

The Omani Finance Ministry has revealed the Sultanate's annual inflation jumped to 4.6% on an annual basis in July, its highest level since April 2009, compared with 4.0% in June, Reuters has reported. The ministry's data has shown that the budget surplus of Oman expanded to 2% of economic output in the first seven months of the year due to robust oil prices. The Gulf state's consumer prices increased 0.5% on a monthly basis in July, up from a 0.1% increase in the previous month, because of higher food costs.
