Oman to enforce wage protection system from January

Oman’s manpower ministry has said it will start, from January 2014, enforcing the Wage Protection System rules, which requires private sector companies to pay staff through salary accounts, Muscat Daily has reported. “The main aim is to protect workers’ wages and also safeguard employers’ interests by saving them from labour disputes. We will monitor all private sector companies,” said head of the ministry’s salary protection centre, Suhail Yahya al Khasabi. The system is a national project by the ministry and the central bank.
