Qatar applies for $5bn quota for Chinese investment

Qatar Investment Authority, the country's sovereign wealth fund, has applied for a licence and a $5bn quota to invest in China under the country's Qualified Foreign Institutional Investor programme, Bloomberg has reported. The funds will mainly be allocated for the domestic A- share equity market and initial public offerings, with some investment in bonds, energy and industry minister, Dr Mohamed Saleh al-Sada told Xinhua in Beijing.
