QE insurance sector resists market index decline

Like at all GCC and most global markets, selling pressure continued to keep Doha-listed shares at bay. The Qatar Exchange 20 Index closed on Wednesday 1.90% lower at 9,356.32 points, representing a 2-month low. Shares of the national telecom giant Ooredoo (formerly Qtel) lost 3.77%, while market heavyweight Industries Qatar dived 1.25%. Only 5 shares gained value, with General Insurance (up 10%), posting the biggest gain.
