RSA solidifies growth plans through appointment of industry experts

RSA has recently announced the appointment of Penny Randall as Regional Casualty Manager and Greg Otterson as Regional Director - Special Projects, Asia & Middle East who will support the company's ambitious regional growth strategy for 2008.

This announcement follows the unveiling of RSA’s new corporate identity early last month. The re-brand encompasses RSA’s commitment to its customers and partners and provides a platform for its continued development and excellence.

The move differentiates RSA from other insurers and demonstrates to customers what the company stands for.

In her capacity, Randall will be responsible for leading RSA’s Casualty and Profin portfolio across Asia and the Middle East, while Otterson will be responsible for working closely with geographic and country CEO’s, as well as functional management.

Scott Pickering, CEO Asia & Middle East, commented on the new appointments: “Asia & the Middle East represent two of the largest economies in the world today and it is vital that we move as quickly as opportunities arise and business develops. Both Greg and Penny bring a wealth of experience and expertise in the insurance industry and these appointments reflect the increasing size, scope and ambitions of RSA to support our plans in the region”.

Randall will act as matrix leader for all casualty managers and personnel, providing technical underwriting support and issuing casualty licenses to qualified individuals.

She joins RSA from ACE Insurance Ltd., where she held the position of Property and Casualty Manager in South Africa.

Prior to that, she held various positions at Glencairn Insurance Brokers, Standard Bank of South Africa and AIG South Africa Ltd.

“RSA has earned the admiration and respect of its employees, customers, and the industry as a whole. Through well measured steps, it has solidified its presence in the region and I am delighted to be part of such a successful team” she said.

Otterson brings more than 25 years of regional and international experience in the insurance industry, where he worked across diverse geographies.

In his new role at RSA, he will oversee the delivery and implementation of key strategic projects that support RSA’s overall strategy of repeatable models across emerging markets.

Before joining RSA, Otterson held several senior management positions at ACE Insurance Ltd., where he was most recently the CEO and Country Manager for Korea.

He has also worked with other insurers across a variety of locations.

“It is an honor for me to join this ever expanding team of industry specialists. I am looking forward to using my proven skills as an insurance professional to add real value to the various projects I will be heading”, he said.

Following the re-branding strategy launched last month as well as the increased growth in 2007, RSA will take advantage of available opportunities to build a truly strong regional business franchise for its emerging markets.

RSA has undertaken a number of initiatives to position itself effectively for the future, in addition to strengthening its position as the preferred insurer among both individual and commercial customers.
