Samsung and Toshiba could slow capacity expansion to hold NAND chip prices

Samsung Electronics and Toshiba are reportedly mulling plans to postpone their scheduled 12" fab expansions with an aim to prevent further falls in NAND chip prices, Digitimes has reported, citing industry sources. Although prices for NAND flash chips have stabilised in June as a result of Samsung's intentionally reducing its supply to China-based channel distributors, end-market demand remains sluggish, the sources said.
